Attendance Hotline

Call (760) 331-5570

State law now requires schools to officially record every time a student is absent during instructional time. Therefore, we need your assistance in making sure your child is on time to school and present each day.

If your child is absent, it is important to call the 24-hour Attendance Voice Mail each day your child is absent from school. Please provide the following information:

 » Student's full name

» Their teacher's name

» Reason for absence
» Date of absence
» Your name and relationship to student

*State Education Code 48205 states that a pupil shall be excused from school when the absence is:

(1) Due to his or her illness.

(2) Due to quarantine under the direction of a county or city health officer.

(3) For the purpose of having medical, dental, optometric, or chiropractic services rendered.

(4) For the purpose of attending the funeral services of a member of his or her immediate family, so long as the absence is not more than one day if the service is conducted in California and not more than three days if the service is conducted outside of California.

(5) For the purpose of jury duty in the manner provided for by law.

(6) Due to the illness or medical appointment during school hours of a child of whom the pupil is the custodial parent.

(7) In observance of a holiday or ceremony of his or her religion.

*State Education Code 48260 states that a student is truant when the absence is:

(1)Absent for (3) full days without a valid excuse in (1) school year, or

(2)Tardy or absent for more than 30 minutes without a valid excuse for three (3) or more days in one (1) school year, or

(3)Any combination of the above.

The following are unexcused absences (truant):

  • personal reasons
  • family emergency
  • vacations
  • sporting events that are not school related

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Please note: unverified absences will remain on your child’s record as unexcused if we do not hear from you. Also, all students must be on time to school and in their classroom before the bell rings.

To avoid unnecessary interruptions to your child’s teacher and classmates, please make sure your child has everything he or she needs before arriving at school. Calling to remind or dropping off of forgotten items left at home; for example, lunch, instruments, homework, jackets, to name a few, takes away from the teacher’s instructional time and also causes interruptions. Please make sure these types of items are brought to school when the child first arrives. Please also advise your child what they need to do if they forget their lunch; for example, buying lunch instead. Please let them know what they need to do after school and who will be picking them up.

Also, parents for the security of our students and staff, please always sign in and out on the register in the office when coming on campus. It is also important that you wear a visitor badge and that it be visible at all times.
